Welcome to Elderhide
Elderhide is a Vanilla World of Warcraft realm built around the classic 1.12 experience. Follow the steps below to create your account, configure your client, and enter the realm.
Create Your Account
Before entering the realm, you need an Elderhide account. Your account is used to log into the game client.
Create an Elderhide AccountInstall the Vanilla 1.12.1 Client
Elderhide uses the original Vanilla World of Warcraft 1.12.1 client.
Your client should report game build 5875.
If you already have a clean 1.12.1 client, you can use that installation. Keep Elderhide in its own game folder so changes to another WoW installation do not interfere with it.
Configure Your Realmlist
Open your World of Warcraft 1.12.1 installation directory and locate:
Open the file with a text editor such as Notepad and replace its contents with:
Save the file and close the editor.
Launch World of Warcraft
Start the game using the executable inside your Vanilla 1.12.1 installation.
When the login screen appears, enter the Elderhide username and password you created on the registration page.
You do not need to enter the server address inside the game. The realmlist configuration tells the client where to connect.
Enter Elderhide
After successfully logging in, select the Elderhide realm, create your character, and enter the world.
Troubleshooting
Unable to connect
Check that your realmlist contains exactly:
Incorrect game version
Make sure you are launching a Vanilla 1.12.1 client rather than a modern World of Warcraft installation.
Login details are rejected
Confirm that you are using the Elderhide account created on this website and that your username and password have been entered correctly.
Realmlist keeps changing
Confirm that you edited the realmlist file belonging to the same Vanilla installation that you are launching.
